Lieutenant governor candidates court business group for support
Despite some reservations nationally about tea party inroads, candidates say goals are same: Less government, lower taxes
With just seven weeks left before the primaries, the four Republican candidates for Texas lieutenant governor Monday courted a monied and politically powerful business group whose members might be wary of the candidates’ pleas for support from tea party activists.
But neither the candidates nor the Texas Business Roundtable hinted at any conflict during an Austin candidate forum.
