Final filed primary candidates:

Odus Evbagharu (D)
Liz Ramos (R)

“Odus Evbagharu is running for the Texas House because he believes in building a future where every family has the chance to succeed. As the son of immigrants, Odus grew up in the Cy-Fair community, attended Cy-Fair public schools, and graduated from the University of Houston. Today, he is also a small business owner. His life experience taught him when people get involved, they can shape the future they want for themselves and the next generation.

Odus has already made history in Harris County. In 2021, he became the youngest and first Black leader elected Chair of the Harris County Democratic Party. During his time as Chair, Odus led one of the most inclusive voter contact programs in county history. His work helped deliver the first Democratic supermajority on the Harris County Commissioners Court since the 1970s. That record shows his ability to organize, build coalitions, and win tough fights — skills he will bring to the Texas Legislature.

Odus also knows how the state legislature works, serving as a Chief of Staff in House District 135. In that role, he worked daily on issues that matter to Texas families: defending public schools, protecting women’s autonomy, and pushing for an economy working for everyone. He’s partnered with progressive organizations and Democratic campaigns across the state, helping them grow their voices and make real change in their communities. His work has made him a trusted leader who can navigate both grassroots activism and legislative policy.”
