Representative John Raney Announces Re-Election Bid

Austin, TX – Today, State Representative John Raney (R- Bryan/College Station) officially announced he is running for re-election for State Representative, in House District 14 where he has served since 2011.

“Representing my friends and neighbors in Bryan and College Station is truly an honor. I have worked hard to control spending, invest in priorities like border security, protect life, and advocate for Texas A&M. I would be honored to continue serving our community,” said Representative John Raney.

Representative John Raney’s accomplished legislative record reflects the views and values of his constituency. He is proud to have carried and supported conservative legislation protecting life, increasing border security, limiting wasteful government spending, increasing transparency, guarding religious liberties, fostering workforce development, and improving higher education access. “Rep. John Raney did a magnificent job again in the Legislature, and we are truly grateful. We especially appreciate his authoring a pro-life bill that will help save countless lives in the years to come,” said Joe Pojman, Ph.D., Executive Director of Texas Alliance for Life.

Serving as the Secretary of the House Republican Caucus, as Vice Chair for the House Committee on Higher Education, and as a member of the House Committees on Administration, and Appropriations, John has an active role in ensuring Bryan/College Station’s voice is heard, protecting its economic opportunities and growth, and local control. “As Secretary of the House Republican Caucus, John has been a highly respected and valued leader for the Legislature,” House Republican Caucus Chairman Tan Parker said. “He has been a champion for conservative policies throughout the 85th Legislative Session, and we look forward to him continuing to serve the people of House District 14.”

John has served his community in various leadership roles including Chairman of the Republican Party of Brazos County, Civic Division Vice President of the Bryan College Station Chamber of Commerce, a member of the National Federation of Independent Business and the Texas Retailers Association where he served on its Tax and Legislative Committee and Executive Committee. “More than ever, it is important that we have strong and experienced representation within the Texas Legislature. Together, we can ensure that our community continues being a leading voice in building a better Texas,” said Representative Raney.

Representative Raney is a proud sixth-generation Texan, a member of the Texas A&M Class of 1969, and is the founder and current operator of Texas Aggieland Bookstore, currently in its 48th year of operation. He and his family are members of First United Methodist Church in Bryan, where he has served in various leadership roles. A proud United States Army veteran, Representative Raney served from 1969-1975 as 1st Lieutenant in the Texas Army National Guard.
